Don't throw it away let us fix it for you
Why a Repair Café?
We throw away vast amounts of stuff. Even things with almost nothing wrong, and which could get a new lease on life after a simple repair. The trouble is, lots of people have forgotten that they can repair things themselves or they no longer know how. Knowing how to make repairs is a skill quickly lost. Society doesn’t always show much appreciation for the people who still have this practical knowledge, and against their will they are often left standing on the sidelines. Their experience is never used, or hardly ever.
The Repair Café changes all that! Eastleigh Mens Shed member have valuable practical knowledge to facilitate many simple. Things are being used for longer and don’t have to be thrown away. This reduces the volume of raw materials and energy needed to make new products. It cuts CO2 emissions, for example, because manufacturing new products and recycling old ones causes CO2 to be released.
What does it cost?
We will evaluate the problem and advise what can be done to make a repair, and how much any parts may cost, this is our only charge, but we do welcome a voluntary donation of your choice to the Mens Shed to enable us to purchase more tools and equipment and therefore improve our service.
What do we repair?
The majority of what we are asked to repair tends to be electrical items from Vacuum Cleaners to Televisions, but we have a wealth of skills within our membership and can turn our hands to many things, Including petrol mowers, items of furniture, computers and so on. Just bring your item along or email any enquiries to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will advise.
